Im pretty sure most games before the ps1, and in the ps1 era, had crappy music, they didnt care a lot about that.
Thats what I think, I find ps2 games to have better music in general, there are exceptions, but the lack of good sound quality doesnt help the older systems, the best FF7 song versions are from the later spin offs and AC, the first game gave the base, which was great, but it was perfected later.
