Ok, the tone that some of these posts have taken is akin to the "PS3 is almost destroying the 360". It is bordering on silly here. Several things:
1. The Wii was launched at the same time as the PS3 (few day difference) and it outselling both the PS3 and 360. And it isn't price as the main factor. The Wii outsells the $200 360.
2. Sales numbers are sales numbers. Sony has sold more consoles historically than Microsoft. Microsoft has had more platforms for computing and gaming in place than Sony. The XBox 360 has sold more. Doesn't matter if it is price or whatever, the numbers are numbers.
3. Performing this time warp my somehow saying how the 360 sold LAST year matters for THIS year, is ONLY useful as ONE of multiple factors in making predictions. It assumes the 360 will suddenly stop. And that if the PS3 somehow is on the market longer than the 360 (Microsoft launches a new console), that somehow there is a victory here. It is an irrelevant victory, because the Wii still ends up winning, and also the reason sales matter is because it governs whether you get third-party support.
