I too think they are a great company ethically. (All of the last nine are MS using their market power to push a bad alternative on consumers).

 

 

I love how people can call things "bad alternatives" because they hate Microsoft. The "Windows Tax" isn't that unreasonable. PC makers arent' required to do it, they can buy windows at a higher price... or they can buy it at a reduced price by agreeing to buy it for all PCs they make. Why? Because a vast number of windows copies get pirated by people who buy cheap white boxes. The result? Large PC makers pay the tax, mom and pop computer building shops pay more per license, and for most people that's fine. You want Linux? Then buy a custom.

 

As for a number of the items you listed, they are either free inclusions(IE, Silverlight, WMP, directX) or being considered "bad alternatives" is simply your own biased opinion(Microsoft Office).
