Of course they don't require as much strategy as RTSs. They are shooters, after all. Hell, they don't even use similar game mechanics or camera or have similar goals. Jesus, there is a canyon of difference between the strategy required to subdue a civilization in AoE and the strategy required to win a SOCOM match, how could you do this?

FPSes require far far more skill than any TPS.

First person shooters also requires you to expose yourself to see around a corner, while third person shooters let you magically see around and over objects with no danger to yourself.
I find third person shooters more fun overall, but for a competitive multiplayer game, FPS > TPS.
