They'll continue to support the Wii after 2011 to a certain extent, a sort of 3rd-pillar strategy like with 2005 and early 2006 and the GBA and the DS. Recent evidence supports that they can't keep the Wii going in Japan forever, so regardless of its performance in other markets, they'll want to keep moving forward. Equally, they've said they take the coming DTV transition in Japan "very seriously," a transition scheduled to take place on July 24, 2011. They'll do what is necessary to keep complete backwards compatibility, so that it doesn't matter that 2012's "Persona 5" releases on Wii, you can play it on your N6.
I just don't see how they'll keep the console going for an incredibly long time. A 5-year run is well-balanced to suit Nintendo's development capabilities, since they don't seem to be rapidly expanding their development capabilities (yeah, there is that new R&D complex they're building, but it won't be until 2013 or so until they have that built). Their ability to move customers upstream means that they can move with relative impunity.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
