If Microsoft followed its past trend, then 2010 would be the year of the Xbox 720 since it only allowed the original Xbox four years.
However, knowing that the market composition is quite different today, that will not happen (I would imagine there would be word if MS or anyone planned to release a new console for this holiday season.
At this point, the software lineup looks good. But as is generally the case at this stage of a console's life, it is usually going to be more designed for maintaining the satisfaction of the current ownership rather than generating significant new ownership.
In other words, the games coming out might be great but they won't be system sellers. Still, the next 12-18 months looks like it will bring good stuff for Xbox 360 owners.
