Map navigation did get troublesome in some maps (notably Chinatown and that Area 66), but generally it wasn't that bad.

I don't remember having this "explained" to me - apart from knowing that enemies appear on the minimap.

On the train level, I died twice trying to get to a "star" on the minimap - only to be hit by a train. Then I realised its *above* me, but the minimap wasn't showing me this at all.
