@ GranTurismo, No...you must be. If you're that incapable of navigating a pointer, there's either a specific problem with your Wiimote or you're sitting way too far away or something.

I'll admit the pointer gets very shaky when using certain HDTVs...but that's usually because I'm sitting at an angle and relatively farther away. It's not "sloppy"...it's just a technical limitation, and one that can be refined ingame...like comparing Wii's Home menu compared to Metroid Prime 3's menu cursor. The latter is extremely smooth and never jumps around no matter where you sit...I just imagine that a menu cursor like that might not be quick enough for twitchy movements in games like RE:UC.

As for the motion controls, motion controls alone aren't very precise by nature...so it's up to game developers to utilize them in ways that work well. Controlling a 360 degree camera using nunchuck motion control is a bad utilization in my opinion, but making quick waggle motions or using motion for tilting, etc...works very well.

First, let me say that your last paragraph is exactly what I attempted to articulate earlier.  Motion controls are imprecise because the human making the motions is imprecise.  Don't use them in areas where you need a high degree of precision and they can be very enjoyable.

Secondly, 'the pointer'  is an infrared sensor that senses the LEDs within the sensor-bar.  It doesn't matter what kind of TV you have, but if you're sitting at a really bad angle relative to your TV or really far away from your TV, you'll need a better sensor bar.  If you're having problems with infrared light leakage, as some have pointed out earlier, decrease the sensitivity of the infrared sensor.

I made my own USB-powered sensor bar because we sit really far from our 50" set.  It makes the pointing extremely precise and very nice to use -- the only thing is that I made the sensor bar a little *too* big so you have to be almost the full distance away from the TV to use it.  When I next have 30 minutes free that I don't feel I have to dedicate to gaming (God I love Strikers) I will probably make a slightly narrower sensor bar.

Or you could buy custom sensor bars too for odd configurations.  If the infrared pointing isn't working extremely well you're probably sitting too far away or could benefit from a brighter-LED sensor bar.
