I'd have to go with 8, it's my favourite FF.
It had great characters, and a compelling story (with a very random and confusing twist at the end).
I'd have to say the best moment was the Squall and Rinoa space moment (that was a long ass moment mind you). It was just ridiculously well done.
Pretty much the first FF to truly suck me in (and I played FF7 before that). With this game, it established itself as one of the few franchises that despite all the hate it gets, I will always eagerly await the next installment.
