Of course it makes 100% sense for a high definition console, the PS3 has many times the memory and processing power of the PS2, surely additional storage always made sense and had to be part of the plan.
Good find GranTurismo! There's so much misinformation and propaganda floating around, it will take a lot of effort to get the contrary out of people's minds (like Blu-Ray is only implemented to push the Blu-Ray movie format).
