I don't think that's as big of a deal as people make it out to be. I can easily play the Wii with several lights on and my blinds partially open and not have any problem. There is interference if I point my remote directly at a light or leave my window facing the sun completely open, but how often is my remote pointing directly at a light when I need the pointer and how often are my windows all the way open? Never and never.
