First off, who is Dave Perry and what is Shiny?
Secondly, even Joystiq, no fan of motion controls by any stretch, defends motion controls against Perry, "it seems unfair to lay the burden of imprecise controls at the console's feet when games like Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime 3 make such strides to validate a full range of motion controls. " That shows how far out there this Perry guy is.
Third, what game with horrible controls are Wii owners accepting for the sake of innovation (after launch at least)? MoH? Sold poorly. Far Cry? Sold poorly. Boogie? Sold poorly. Madden 08? Selling poorly. The Bigs? Sold poorly (despite being the first actual baseball game). Prince of Persia? Sold Poorly. Since I know someone is going to bring it up (I'm guess either a mod withstick and ball in his id or another mod with 5 consonants for an id) Mario Party 8 had decent controls. They weren't great but except for one or two games they weren't sloppy.
I'm guessing this guy is a dev and he is a perfect example of why Nintendo needs to save the industry again.
