i don't think first VC made even profit for sega - they want sequel probably, because of anime and thanks to that VC2 would make the profit even if sega would release it only in japan.

 

Your logic for the sequel is backwards , I don't think a new anime would justify a multi million dollar HD game , VC's success  made making an anime & a sequel worthwhile.
