Shortage of labour force hasn't been a problem for 30 years in the EU though. We simply don't need more ppl.

What about the fact that countries like the UK have, for the first time in our history, more pensioners than school children. Our ageing population means that our workforce is getting smaller, coupled with the economic boom we'll be getting over the next 25 years because of (as HappySqurriel pointed out) the rise of the E7, we're going to need a larger work force.

Turkey has a population of 71 million, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's a growing population - this could be a solution to the population problems that we're going to have in the future.

On another note, Turkey brings great trade access to SE Asia, and the acceptance of an Islamic nation into the EU could help its image in the South East.
