Why must we be fanboys and/or ignorant to list it as our most overrated game? To be fair, FPS' nearly always fail in regards to storytelling and avoiding industry cliches, with exceptions like Half-Life and System Shock being a refreshing change, among others. I don't mean to bash Halo specifically either, I was merely replying to that post. The Gears of War's, Killzone's, Call of Duty's and Resistance's would all fall under the "great/fun multiplayer, cliched and unimpressive single-player" (omitting Gears, as I never found its online to be satisfying). Not that I find the actual gameplay of those games to be particularly distasteful, just that they are, as the saying goes, "a dime a dozen". |
I have played Halo for 20+ hours and I call it overrated. I am good at the game, but not good enough to compete with the people who have played it for 400+ hours.
"Get over it... It is a huge selling series for a reason, not because of hype, not because we are all sheep, becuase it is an extremely well put together piece of software."
It sold well for a reason, and that reason is that it is easily accessable to the majority of XBOX 360 users. You will find that the best selling software is not always the best software.
To summarize, Halo is a good game. It's just that there are better FPS games out there. Most of them on the PC.

), but they are all massively overrated in that sense and would likely fill my list.
