Easily the quickest ascent on the MGC tracking service of any game, ever. Gears was pretty quick too.

How does 7 hours compare to other big-selling games?

Bioshock, for example, had a very close launch in all regions (like Halo), but took about 6 days to overtake Gears, at the end of the week.

The top-5 X360 titles on MGC are, as of 1900 EST:

 Halo 3  23,550 (+5,296)
 Gears of War 18,008 (+1,257)
 Rainbow Six Vegas 6,050  (+449)
 Forza Motorsports 2 5,106  (+440)
 Bioshock 5,114  (+473)

Numbers in (parenthesis) indicate # of increased gamercards from 0800 EST to 1900 EST.

Mygamercard.net refreshes it's numbers each hour. I almost had this posted just before the refresh. As of the last hour (or even half hour), Halo added nearly 2,000 cards in that time period - Compared to under 700 for Gears (which has a 3:1 advantage over everything else).

Therefore, the rate of new cards for Halo3 is increasing against RSV, FM2, and Bioshock at a whopping rate of 9 to 1.

Also, if you'll note: Forza Motorsports, thanks to bundling in Europe, has been doing real good lately. It dropped out of the top 5 within a few weeks fo reaching prominence (hit #1 for maybe 1 week). This is showing that consumers there are buying the bundles, and playing it too. FM2 has also re-emerged on Chart-Track's top-40 lists after a brief stint away from the top 40.

Also, for freebies, the top 5 RPGs on MGC:

 Oblivion  1,140
 Blue Dragon 1,100
 Two Worlds 827
 Eternal Sonata 511
 Final Fantasy XI 467

For those counting, these numbers are pretty interesting for Blue Dragon. Everyone has assumed it's been fairing worse than other games, but atleast according to MGC, has still been selling, and playing well. Also, Eternal Sonata is doing fantastic on the list - It managed a strong 4th place showing last week, despite only being available in the US, whereas every other game is tracked worldwide.

Also, for those that care: if your wondering why Oblivion is still #1, thank Japan. It's still charting incredibly well in Japan, as Japan accounts for 27.6% of all active Oblivion players on MGC.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
