I doubt dev cost to much if they are thinking of another one with only 400k in sales.

I'd guess the real money was in the liscensing of the Anime.

It makes me wonder if that deal was in place before the game was released.  I mean look who is making it afterall.

If successful the anime+ the cheapening of the game may lead to a "second rising" of the series too.

Also.  Well the actual developer always wants to make a sequel.  Even if there game bombs commercially and they love it.  What the buisness guys allow.  That's the real question.

Well you have to remember that all those comments about VC being bomb with bad sales have one small assumption that SEGA are a bunch of idiots who can't count and didn't check how many copies normal SRPG sell.

At the same time VC didn't have almost any marketing push so it means almost no cost on marketing.

Now Sega has:

probably around 400k shipments for this meaning something around 8M USD (assuming usually taken $20 figure)

uknown amount of cash from DLC (which on this game might have some insane attachment ratios)

licensing fees from anime, music, artbooks, figurines

And already developed engine and setting which will certainly make sequel development cheaper and on top of top they have great advertising in form of anime and created fanatical fantase which will buy sequel almost certainly.

That's why i belive making sequel would be profitable for sure.
