Exactly. When I referenced this article back on page 1 I pointed out that what made this article bothersome was that it is so old. The fact that this has been a problem since launch gives me a somewhat bitter view of MS and the devs who are doing it. As somebody pointed out earlier I suspect vsync is turned off to try and create the best looking screenshots for marketing. Based on the performance hit I see on a PC I suspect that there would have to be a decent reduction in detail or framerate. The PS3 sacrificing frames (and sometimes graphics) for vsync seems to back that point up. I'm still glad I bought my 360 but I tend to prefer the direction Sony is leaning on this one. Just a matter of taste I guess.

Just thought I'd further iterate this. It is a game specific issue, not console specific. It is also not 360 games or multiplat game specific. PS3 games have tearing as well. Off hand I can think of Uncharted as a prime example.
Overall I guess I'd prefer the higher frame rate and tearing since I don't notice it and only saw it in one 360 game so far. I guess my eyes aren't sensitive enough. I have perfect vision and don't need glasses, but I do have those weird floater things and stare at LCD's all day, so who knows
