I second the Half Life train ride introduction, it is simply put pure genius and one of the pinnacles of video game story telling IMO. So casual, perfectly out-of-your-face and ordinary, and still it manages to introduce you to the Black Mesa, introduce your character and really set you up for the game. No CGI video can achieve the same.
