One thing. BR is the future for true HD movies. Digital distribution is actually a little less futuristic in terms since it has actually been around longer the BR. Honestly downloading films don't really look as good as a Movie collection on my entertainment system. Plus if my computer/system crashes or breals I won't lose anything and spend hours downloading films. BR and DVDs co-exist better together as they don't look funky together like VHS and DVD. Plus I can always pop in a DVD in my BR Player/PS3 as well as a BR movie where I couldn't do that with a VHS tape until VHS/DVD players came along long down the road.
BR will become more viable if and when games see higher data rates. Other than that there really was no reason to make games a BR thing. Sony used it to promote there format and is a smart idea on their part because it will turn to their favor later down the road but no sort term results. Any person that is a PS3 fan knows that BR was a gimick and they are a fanboy if they deny it. But none of us see it as a bad thing.
