Considering that Nintendo has been the only real company that has been able to have any sort of success in the handheld gaming market for a long while, 45 million PSPs sold is pretty good. When it was released, I believe it was roughly the same or more than the home consoles (PS2/GCN/XBOX), so it's not like it was a cheaper alternative. Really, though, if you want to compare things to Nintendo this gen, every non Nintendo console has more or less sucked in sales.
