2TB hdd is under $200 now.
They could go higher, but many operating systems don't support more than 2TB drives, especially for their boot partition. That is changing though, but would be problem for people wanting to upgrade their computer instead of getting latest Windows or Linux.
Generally if you want that much data, you want to be able to access it fast. You are better off with spreading it over multiple drives for faster access if you need that much data...
