Well according to Neilson your wrong about the Xbox 360. Also you just explained in great detail why blue ray is not necessary this generation, A lot of people still don't even have HD tvs. Without an HD tv, a movie or game will look no different than on a wii. They basically just alienated 70% of the population bcause of blue ray. Why pay more money for no benefits? No broadband in many cases also. That's why Xbox arcade exists. Microsoft understood they can't just market to the top 20 % of gammer elitists. The PS3 can never be mass market because they made too many fause assumptions.
False asssumption #1 Most people absolutely care about having the best best best graphics and the system to do so will win.
False assumption #2 they can make a game so beautiful that all other gammers will be shocked in awe and drop everything to get a PS3.
False assumption #3 Third party developers will follow their lead of spending $60 million on a game to max out a blue ray so that they can get similar sales numbers to Killzone 2 and Resistence 2 instead of games like Carnival games that cost $300k to make and sell over 3 million. Or even left 4 dead made on the 5 year old source engine with 4 levels that sold over 2.5 million. Sony leads the industry by example. Just not on making money
