Yeah, shut up now Tyrannical. Racism is a quick way to banville.

You don't want to go to banville do ya?

No one wants to go to banville

But what's your opinion of this?

  • Racially separatist student organizations such as a black students' association, or an Hispanic students' association, are not considered segregationist or even racist because they benefit a preferred racial group.
  • Racially separatist professional organizations such as the Black Engineers Society, or the Black Chamber of Commerce, or the Black Firefighters Association are not considered to be segregationist or even racist because they benefit a preferred racial group.
  • Racially separatist businesses such as the Black Entertainment Channel, or the Black National Bank, are not considered to be segregationist because they cater to the presumed business and entertainment interests of a preferred racial group.
  • Racially separatist political organizations such as the Congressional Black Caucus are not presumed to be segregationist or racist because their purpose is to advance the racially-exclusive political interests of a preferred racial group.

While I don't agree with most of those organisations because I'm all for an integrated multicultural society I can see why they exist. Its largely because of three things;

1. Historical injustice, historically the white man was a dick. Segregation slavery and all the rest of it means that many of those groups were not formed by choice but because other races couldn't get into any association of white people.

2. Modern demographics, currently several groups - in my country its the Maori that spring to mind - lag behind in average wage, education and have a higher percentage of the prison population than they should. Therefore some of those groups exist to try and help their people attain a better standard of living than they currently have.

3. Minority, essentially in most countries the mainstream organisations are usually dominated by the majority of that country. Therefore in order to get their views and culture across the minority groups need seperate organisations than the mainstream ones.
