Just started to watch it (at the point where the game begins with Alicia and Welkin). A bit dissapointed with the art work, but that's to be expected as it won't look exactly like the original work.
I LOVED how it they're going to incorporate the minor characters. Even if they never get into the main story, they give you enough information and through their combat abilities (forgot what they were called) you get to know the characters very well.
I was a bit confused with Suzie being in the beginning, but they got her down perfectly with the pacifist thing.
I can't wait to see the engineer girl who hates guys and loves Alicia like a big sister. There's the sadist Jane, who I always pair with Hannes (or something like that) because they hate Imperialists. I want to see the nihilist sniper girl (I could see her sneezing due to her allergy when she's trying to snipe).
Character development and story for all those minor characters were something the game couldn't capitalize on (I don't blame them). This anime, although it looks a bit corny in the beginning, it could be a great series with tons of character development and scenes not seen in the game.
They could easily make their own filler and arcs due to the sheer amount of material they have already. I wonder if they could even include everyone. I wonder if those minor characters will die?
This anime has a lot of potential =) I was kinda turned off by the beginning with the stereotypical J-Pop/Rock song and the art style, but now I'm really optimistic.
Edit: They kinda fucked up with Welkin though =/ Looks really weird.

I was wondering that too when I saw the opening (when Alicia and Eddy in the back attack together) it felt more like Alicia was possessed by Eddy's spirit... and if they want to pull some new twists to the story the only way to do it is to kill some other character.
As for Susie being in the first episode... apparently you haven't read her bio in the game otherwise you would have known she had to be here, plus when you use her in the game you notice see she has a big problem with firearms.
