FPS is sacrificed to have the game look pretty. It's a decision the developers made and you can't do anything about it.
Patching is supposedly a good thing. Fixing bugs that have escaped the testing phrase. But as with any tool, there are always people misusing it.
As seen in some games, they just release the games and then patch up the broken controls afterward.
You could very clearly tell that some games are just not ready for release but they are put on the shelves anyways.
Input lag. If you're talking about the hardware. There isn't a problem there. However, some might try to put the blame on the hardware for some damage control and then release a patch to fix the lag afterward (which didn't require you to fix your hardware that caused the lag).
