Ye a war that nearly destroyed Europe (and the rest of the world except the America's :P) had something to do with European countries not holding on to their superpower status. But we're on the rise to the top again :P
I believe that the next "superpower" won' t necessary be one country, we're living in a much complexer world these days. Unless another war destroys half the world and one country gets the upperhand.
