Obvious recommendations not worth my time - SotC, FFX, GoW etc. etc., so here're some underdogs...
How about SMT games besides Personas? Digital Devil Saga dilogy or SMT3: Nocturne? If you're not afraid of classic jRPG gameplay mechanics - check them out. Odin Sphere (the previous effort of Muramasa team), maybe? I got it just for fantastic art, gameplay wise - good brawler + some tiny RPG elements, not so bad, but nothing extraordinary.
//The whole series of R&C imo not worth playing, pick up the first one, play it. And if you wanna more - get the rest. I got all of them and, well... overrated, first one was good, sometimes really good, the rest - bo-o-oring - too much of the same.
