Wow, some of you went way more mainstream than I would have thought. To me, a "cult classic" means that it didn't really appeal to the masses, but a certain group particularly liked it.
Anyway, my three favorite cult classic series are the Lufia series, the Ogre Battle series, and the Vandal Hearts series. Although, I guess Ogre Battle and Vandal Hearts are both more SRPG than JRPG. I still love them, though.
