Yes I believe it was posted on April 1st. It was on the world of warcraft website and it wasn't mentioned on Blizzard's front page. I took it to be an April fools joke.
Edit: Just checked and it was an april fools joke for the WoWEurope site and that might be why it wasn't posted on blizzard's home page.
