I'm sure most japanese people (90-95%) don't even know about "april fools" - there is a small group of people on the internet that do pranks aswell, but these likely know about it due to the huge western influence on the internet.

Coincidently the 1. of april marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for many companies, so releasing trailers/infos on games that release in this FY absolutely makes sense.
