Anyone remember this whole "Megaton" talk? I am speaking before Fallout 3 of course. It was how Capcom, Konami, Nintendo, or whomever else it was that I forget, was supposed to release some big news that was going to change everything. It proved to be a no show. Anyhow, in light of this, I am curious if the word "Megaton" now means big news or some big false announcements. Anyone have the word? If it means some false big news, some recently struck me as this:
1. Sony was going to run ads for Killzone 2 during the Superbowl. And we apparently saw the ad they were going to run, all 52 or 62 seconds of it. Apparently fourth down was four dead Helghasts, and sudden death meant you died instantly. We were then told to enjoy the game.
2. Microsoft was going to have BIG news at the GDC. Right, what big news? Was there even a televised press conference? Anyone see ANYTHING on it by Microsoft?
3. Mass Effect 2 would be announced for the PS3. MGS4 "any day now" will be announced for the 360. This became a Megaton for the GDC, as part of the speculation. The Megaton ended up being Modern Warfare 2 (without the Call of Duty in front of it). MGS on the 360 has been particularly annoying like this, when an MGS on the iPhone was speculated to be coming onto the 360.
4. Final Fantasy VII to the PS3. Final Fantasy Vs XIII on the 360 is another one.
5. Diablo III on the 360. World of Warcraft on the 360.
So, can anyone name others that fit this and answer if Megaton means big news or fake big news?
