I haven't read the entire thread, so perhaps someone has already mentioned it.... but Sony are of course speaking the truth.
The PS2 is now taking marketshare from the Wii (and the PS3, and the X360, and argurable the handhelds too [more so PSP than DS given the similarities between PSP and a home console])
It's just that we define marketshare by generation... but real marketshare is on a real time basis, so any console that sells is possibly taking away the sales of a different console.... the PS1 was "taking" marketshare from the PS2, GC, XB and Dreamcast too.

What is possibly meant by what Sony said though, is that the price-drop will increase the amount of marketshare the Wii loses... this will also be true (and again true it takes away from PS3 and X360 too, though perhaps not in as high a percentage) but Sony seems to be implying it will be significant, when it very likely won't be.... we will see a spike of course, but the PS2 is not as Sony said "showing little signs of slowing down".... it has already slowed quite a lot, and the price-drop can only delay that slightly, not significantly.
