My question is this, As long as Diablo 3 maintains it's point and click style of hack and slash and rapid leveling and very deep equipment attainment system with tons of hidden little aspects and general addictive gameplay....Why do you care?
Diablo 2 was drastically different in many ways from Diablo 1. That didn't make it any less of a game. It was the gameplay that made it great.
The only thing that would really degrade the franchise IMHO would be an online subscription fee.
Certain aspects about the combat system, PvP system, Health potion/Mana potion system all needed tweaked. Anyone who is saying otherwise is totally delusional or absolutely blind to many of the obvious flaws of Diablo 2.
