between those 2 i would have to go with galaxy. It is the best 3d platformer of all time and had great graphics, music , and production values. It was innovative and still kept what made mario fun in the past with lots of variety and simple fun use of the wii mote. Galaxy 10/10
Metal Gear Solid had graphics, music, and production values also, but without cutscenes i beat the game on normal in 5 and a half hours while galaxy was closer to 25. Also the story sucked in 4 and some horrible dialogue that they would say seriously but i had to believe they were joking and the gameplay was above average but nothing revolutionary or top notch 8.5/10
but i think GTA 4 just edges out Mario Galaxy for game of the generation, definitely now that lost and damned came out
