I really was disappointed when the destructible environment aspect was over played in Killzone 2, as the only parts that I really saw it was the one part with the fixed machine gun and burning building, and a few small examples.
I wish every single game has destructible environments. I remember Socom tried to fix its camping problems (especially with hostage missions) by having "breach points" with C4. But that only ended up having the campers spread themselves up and cover each "Breach point". With bad company, if there's a Gold box I need to blow up, I don't need to walk into a door with a shot gunner crouching in the corner. Instead, I can take a C4/Drill/Mortar/Rocket/Grenade Launcher/Vehicle and blow a hole in the building. If there's an annoying sniper at a window, I can grenade launch that entire wall and send him flying. If I want to ambush a group of player, I can go to the attic of a building and make my own window/nest. If there's someone doing that to me, I can get a mortar and kill 1-4 guys (depending on spawning).
It just gives a map so much potential by adding destructible environments.
Edit: For the guy complaining about sniping, at least there's no one shot kill rifles in BC. Also the thing I loved was how important cover is in the MP. I remember the map I absolutely hated the most, the one that was huge, and had a huge field in the middle, with a flag in the top middle of the map (conquest). I learned to go through the river bed (and so did everyone else) which acted almost like a trench. I learned to get in Jeeps and take out my snipers. I learned how to be able to head shot snipers with Assault gun. I learned how to mortar snipers from afar. Sniping is actually pretty difficult in the game, due to mortar strikes. The bridge map that came in the free DLC is a testament to that. You'll expect everyone to climb the top of bridge if this was any other game, but after the first few weeks, nobody does anymore.
