^see that what my dad tried at first (him and my mom divorced early in my life) and then she married my Step dad who is more like a dad to me, but any ways
he tried to be a dad and a friend and b/c of that we could walk all over him b/c he didn't want to lose us as friends, and now i have almost no contact with him b/c he washed out in my opinion (big into drugs and such)
if i am more concerned about being a friend to my daughter i no longer have to hold my self to a higher standard b/c friends can make mistakes---as a parent you only get one shot and have to hope you take the right one
the ideal place for me is the love and respect of a parent while earning the trust of friend ship
