Why has the Turn-Based JRPG Died? -- Are FF12 & KH to blame?

I think the gameplay merchanics are very small aspect of what makes pokemon succesful ( Pokemon brand name , concept , fanbase etc ) games from various genres have sold well on the pokemon name Cardgames , pinball , photography etc.
