Haven't played it. The vids I've seen are good. But yeah, the aggregate score thus far is pretty low. To be blunt, I doubt Ninja Blade will even be a candidate for GOTY, much less the winner. We all have our own tastes though. Alien Front Online for the Dreamcast was my GOTY for 2001. I doubt many would share in that opinion.
