When you hear people talk about it, most just got tired of replaying Tony Hawk over and over. If sports games didn't update the rosters every year, you wouldn't see people so excited about them either. The little things that each Tony Hawk game changes do not really justify another $60 you have to spend on it.
As far as skate goes, I haven't played it yet. The reviews say that having the tricks on the analog stick put everything too close together. They we're inadvertedly doing the wrong tricks sometimes. Just because EA put out an original IP does not necessarily mean it will be great.
