V would have just as much of a fanbase as IV and VI if it had come out in the West less than a decade after it was made.

 

That is not true whatsoever, as most hardcore FF fans have long since played all the old FF's, and the consensus has been that V is the weak link of the SNES generation for quite some time.

What still spawns debates on forums? FF 7's character and stories, or FF V's addicting battle mechanics.

Great gameplay/music/graphics CAN equal a good RPG.

That plus an incredible story equals an unforgettable one.
