lol...i see why one wouldn't trust the manufacturers when buying new as the word "baliout" is being thrown around a lot when it comes to the detroit 3. But there really shouldn't be any quality concerns at this point. Many people around me, including myself have owned american cars and they have lasted as long as the japanese or european counterparts.
