Would you find it more acceptable if there was a reason or a logic?
That's the cheap varnish that violent content producers put over the rough texture underneath.

They say "it's world war two, and this is a nazist you're torching with a flamethrower" and you're ok with that.
They say "you're shooting this cop in the face, but he's a corrupt bastard" and you're ok with that. They say "this human-like being you're maiming with a chainsaw is really an evil alien" and you're ok with that.

Face it: it's crass titillation of a dark instinct. Every reason and logic and moral doesn't change the fact that you're enjoying it because you feel cool and powerful and in control when the blood spurts everywhere.
It's pornography. The fact that you say that you want a plot in your porn movies doesn't change its nature.
