I would like to know what they classify as anti-gay attitudes.  Are they talking about blatant comments and actions from others that reject a person who is homosexual, or are they talking as well about an environment that is simply more condusive to heterosexual behavior.

At least one of the studies I found was done in Holland. I understand that they are fairly accepting of homosexuals. Enough so that the right wing elected a gay leader. I can't remember his name, but I think some of his opponets called him the gay hitler. He was later murdered by a muslim immigrant.

The Dutch study is important as it attempts to rule out anti-gay sentiments as the cause of the increased mental illness rate.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
