Co-op is a subset of multiplayer.  They very well could be talking about co-op and to be honest, that is the only thing that makes sense given their comments about 6000 zombies on screen.

 

Whenever is see the word multiplayer i usually think of Deathmatches and capture the flag. I understand co-op is MP, but most devs would just say co-op.

 

Dead Rising Deathmatch would be awful.

 

I agree.  It would have to be some sort of tweaked deathmatch to work.  Maybe you could command the zombie hordes where to go or something.  I cannot really think of any way to make a compelling deathmatch out of Dead Rising though.
