I'm pretty much the same way. There is no way I am going to go in search of the lost owner of $100 but a wallet has ID etc... Basically it boils down to, "was it my mistake?" and if not then I don't feel the need to jump through hoops to correct it. Now if I was going through the store and picked something up and absentmindedly walked out with it I would go back because that was my fault.
