Sadly yes. It's 480i/60Hz in NTSC and 480i/50Hz in PAL (black bars on top and bottom).

But frankly I don't know if the resolution is all that bad with its art style.


Yeah, I'm playing on 42" HDTV and Madworld still looks great. I mean it is a wii game, but the art style comes through strong, and I don't notice in the least that it's "only" 480i. On ideological grounds I can understand being incensed at a game that only can be played in SD, but in reality it doesn't affect the quality of this game in the least.
