 The Tales battle system has never been my favorite so out of the gate it had a hurdle.I really did start to dig it once I realized I have to tell my partners to not be retarded. What really got me was the story and characters, Most of the characters annoyed the crap out of me, and the story had some serious plot holes at times. I can deal with bad characters, or plot holes independent of each other. When the two start mixxing and matching to annoy me in tandum though I start to hate a game. Admittdly it is no worse than your typical mediocre JRPG but I wouldn't rate those in the 8 range.

Those things actually annoyed me as well, and I like the game. So I can see someone with a lower tolerence for plot holes and annoying chracters than myself could dislike Vesperia. I can just about deal with them perfectly fine as long my JRPG's have my favorite cliches in them.
