Yeah.  IGN agrees.

I bought a PS1 specifically for FF7 and was never more disapointed in my life.

Luckily Front Mission 3 ruled, Final Fantasy Tactics was good and they rereleased both Ogre games on PS1 to make it up to me.

Well, VI was great, perhaps the best FF storyline.  To say VII doesn't match it  isn't much of a slap.

That said, VII was the epic leap forward.  It justified my PS1 purchase by itself, and like millions of others, I'll never forget it.  I still listen to the soundtrack on occasion.
