Wow, most of the posters in this thread has absolutely no clue what a cliché is.
cliché - noun - anything that has become trite or commonplace through overuse.
Cliché is not a synonym for "something I don't like". Things like "bad storylines", "ugly characters", etc. are general complaints about quality; not clichés.
Here's a real cliché in WRPGs: bad guy discovers a lost, ancient magic/artifact/technology and uses it to try to take over the world/galaxy/universe. This pops up in other genres too though, including some JRPGs.
